I love to watch the latest fashion trends, but some would require a major wardrobe overhaul that I just can’t afford. So each season I read several fashion blogs, and then carefully choose a few affordable pieces that update my look. It’s easy to stay stylish this spring without breaking the bank!
Today I’m showing a few of my favorites, all from Target. I shop Target because with trendy pieces that may only last a season or two (can you say blanket scarves??!) I don’t feel guilty with their price points! The addition of a pair of booties or a fun statement necklace for less than $20 on an “old” outfit is a simple way to update a look!
The first is my favorite! I bought this bag a few weeks ago and it has been great. It has an inner pocket that fits my Macbook and zippers across the top. The color is spot-on for this season and is neutral enough to go with everything. And I LOVE the tassels! Excuse the sort of funky selfie from my office!
Taupe is a great neutral year-round – but it is also extremely popular this spring. I would call #2 a great transitional purse: It’s perfect now, but can carry you in to summer. It’s roomy but not huge like to tote.
Distressed jeans are in – but at my age, I just don’t feel comfortable in them. These cropped jeans (#3) have a worn look without the holes! They hit just above the ankle with a narrow, but not tight, leg. If you don’t care for the frayed edges (also an “in” look this spring), you can easily roll them up an inch for a neat cuff. They come in white as well for a crisp look.
Perforated booties, or open-toed booties are another great transitional addition for your spring wardrobe. They have a young look without looking ridiculous, and the heel height is perfect.
Target has been advertising and promoting their super-cute BaubleBar line of jewelry. I don’t live near a Target (or any other store for that matter!), but on the last couple of trips I have made to Target stores they weren’t displaying any pieces yet. I love this pearly statement necklace! It hangs a little lower than some of the other statement necklaces I have and dresses up everything. But you can still wear it with jeans! Versatility is another key factor I look for when adding a piece or two.
The last piece I’m showing for spring is this cute flowy pink top! Bell sleeves are all the rage (and will go into summer on everything) but here again is not something I’m going to invest a lot in. This one is only $27.99! Click on any of the links check out what Target has for spring styles.
And yes, I’d combine all of this into one easy outfit (maybe minus two purses!). It’s still winter here in Alaska – but I can be hopeful for warm weather soon! But I know that many of you are well into warm weather! So add a few new pieces to stay stylish this spring without breaking the bank! Share your favorite spring trends with me by commenting below!
